How Fresh is Your Content?

Fresh ContentProducing fresh web copy  or content for a site, when done correctly, can produce huge dividends in terms of traffic, new subscribers, loyalty and ultimately sales. However, it does take time to create fresh content on a regular basis.

Many online copywriters know the true value of well-written copy and are constantly changing it on their websites to keep up with the demand of their targeted audience. The question is, how often should you produce new content to keep it fresh?

It depends. One size fits all doesn’t apply here.  Let’s take a closer look.

Blogs and/or Informational Portals:
If you are primarily running a blog, it is critical to your readers to have fresh content, either on a daily basis or every other day. A blog is where your readers wait with anticipation for new content to be published. You need to keep this content as fresh as you can in order to keep their loyalty and increase your readership.

On the other hand, for informational portals and article marketing sites, the more information you can give visitors and potential customers, the better off you’ll be. Search engines love fresh content and so does your audience. However, don’t sacrifice quality over quantity. Your readers expect a certain level of quality that they’ve come to know and love. Don’t disappoint them for the sake of posting fresh content when you don’t have anything worthwhile to talk about. That’s probably the quickest way to lose your readership.

Sales Copy Content:
Now this is a different animal. You should consider a few things here before you change or produce new content. If you track your rankings on any of the popular search engines and see your rank drop, then you may want to freshen up your content to try and  move your rank back up. Creating keyword rich articles that can be distributed throughout the Internet will help to improve your rankings and put you back in the spotlight.

If your site offers something for sale, it is wise to change the content when you have a new offering such as a free or discounted offer. There is no need to completely re-do your entire website as this may confuse repeat visitors when they come to the site in search of something they had found before.

Obviously, if your site is doing well in attracting new visitors and subscribers, you probably won’t need to change your copy. However, it wouldn’t hurt to tweak it here and there to keep it fresh and keep the search engine bots happy at the same time.

Tweaking the sales copy on your site and performing regular maintenance is always a good idea. However, if you have found the magic formula or are one of the lucky ones whose copywriting produces quality leads and your sales are through the roof, then leave it alone. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
