Internet Marketing is considered a relatively new medium of marketing as compared to traditional media such direct mail, television, radio and print ads to name just a few. However, the basic principle of persuading people to buy still remains the same.
Creating “irresistible offers” is an important and critical step in the process of generating qualified leads and converting them to paying customers.
Successful or super affiliates have mastered an age-old formula for profits, which is:
Enticements (Free Tours) + Interest (Qualified Prospects) + Irresistible Offers (Compelled to Buy) = $$$$ (Huge Profits)
There are five key steps involved in making the above formula work in online and/or affiliate marketing. They are:
Key step #1: Provide a valuable, appealing enticement.
Key step #2: Limit the number of enticements.
Key step #3: Personalize the experience by becoming a guide.
Key step #4: Use the attention you have to educate and entertain.
Key step #5: Stop at critical points to make logical offers.
I’m going to walk you through a scenario that shows you how to apply that formula to an online business.
We start by answering the question, “What are people already looking for?” I happen to know that one thing many people are looking for is information on setting up their own Internet business.
So now we have people wanting to learn how to set up their own online businesses. That’s our “target audience (qualified prospects).” We know they are out there. And they are looking for what you are offering.
Our “free tour” is going to be a step-by-step look at how to setup an online business. In other words, we’re going to give them exactly what they are looking for, at absolutely no cost to them.
Your enticement could say something like, “Would you like me to take you by the hand and show you exactly how to start your own successful Internet business? It’s completely FREE.”
Since this is one-on-one, personalized training, we must limit its availability. Because there’s no way for you to provide this kind of personal attention to unlimited number of people at the same time.
You educate your prospects with a 30-minute conference call (a pre-recorded audio session that the participants can download would work great). In this “orientation” call, you’d explain what’s going to happen during the free tour…
- For the next 5 Mondays, you’ll receive an email from me with content that explains how to setup your own online business, as well as do-it-yourself exercises that you must complete within 48 hours.
- On each Wednesday during these 5 weeks, you must submit your assignments to me for evaluation. I’ll get back to you by Friday with anything you’ll need to do over the weekend. On Monday, we’ll start over again.
You set up a 5-part eCourse that’s delivered using an autoresponder. Here’s the key difference that will separate your free eCourse from countless others out there.
You’ve included PERSONALIZED, ONE-ON-ONE feedback and grading of do-it-yourself exercises. This component makes it specific to each subscriber as versus general help and takes your free offer to the next level.
Now for the sixty-five thousand dollar question, how do you make money from this free setup?
- In the first lesson, you could explain to your participants that selling information products is a great way to profit online. You could then explain that there are three primary ways to sell information products: 1) create your own products, 2) promote an affiliate program, and 3) buy reprint or resell rights.
- Promote your favorite affiliate offers for each of them
- Refer them to your favorite 2-tier affiliate program
- In lesson #2, you’d help them figure out what their approach to doing business online is going to be.
- Are they going to create a content site for AdSense revenues?
- Will it be a direct response site like a sales letter for selling a product?
- Will it be an information portal site to sell ads and AdSense?
- Will they use popup windows to capture leads?
- Will they use email marketing and autoresponders?
- Will they use article marketing to drive traffic?
It should be obvious how many different ways you can promote your affiliate links in each of the above cases.
- Lessons 3 through 5 could include help with domain registration, web hosting, web site design and uploading files, content creation, traffic generation and list building. Every topic is ripe for affiliate links, promoting your own information products, selling your design and copywriting services, acquiring subscribers to membership sites and signing up clients for high-priced coaching services.
Bottom line is any of those freebies can be customized with YOUR affiliate link. This means, when your subscribers access them and if they decide to buy one of the offers, you’d earn yet another commission.
And the great thing is once you have the lessons established, it’s just a matter of finding new participants for a new tour. When that tour is finished, you move on to the next set of participants, so and so forth…
Remember the formula…and the money will follow!
