Words that sellWhen was the last time you really looked at your writing? I mean REALLY looked at it from your readers’ perspective? Are you happy with the results that you are getting from sales letters, blog posts and/or email campaigns? If you’re not then the quickest way to change that is to learn to write using powerful words that will lift your conversion rates. Some refer to it as “hypnotic writing.” Others call it “words that sell.”

Unlike a brick-and-mortar business where you have the benefit of visual clues like people’s body language, their facial expressions etc., online your words have a huge impact on everything you do and the results you can expect.

Your words must paint a vivid picture about what you are trying to tell your readers and make a powerful emotional connection with them. Only then will you have the ultimate power to influence and persuade your readers to take the desired action.

Go back to an article, a blog post, or an email that you wrote today. Read it from your visitor’s perspective. Does it speak to you one-on-one or is it too generic? Do the words address your main concerns/problems? Does the copy paint a complete picture of what you can expect to achieve if you bought the product or service? Are you convinced you’ve found the right person or business to solve your problems?

Those are some of the major challenges that your written words must overcome in order for you to achieve the kind of results that will make you successful with online marketing.

You’d be surprised at how things look after the dust settles and you come back to read your writing a few hours later and see it in its naked form, stripped bare of all the illusions you create in your mind as you write.

Sometimes it is difficult to separate the copywriter from the reader if you are the one writing the words. What may seem obvious to you may not be so for others. If you can’t be brutally honest with yourself, have someone else read your copy and give you his or her feedback.

If you are just starting out writing your copy, you may run into a problem that most people face, they tend to edit as they write. That is not the most efficient way to do it.

Try this instead – write without editing at all, let it all flow out, then go back and edit it into a coherent piece. Leave it for a few hours and do some something else or better still, sleep on it.

Then come back as a critical editor and start chopping words. Do that until deleting one more word would completely change the meaning of what you are trying to say.

Now it is time to wear your marketer’s hat and add some pizzazz to your copy. Make it fun and entertaining. Your copywriting will now be so much better and don’t be surprised if you get 10X the results.

Whether you are writing for someone else, or for your own online business, your words must make you stand out from the rest. Don’t be afraid of being different or taking a contrarian stand if you truly believe in your ideas.

Most people are too scared to stand out because they think that writing that doesn’t follow the herd will invite criticism or will be too “weird” and turn-off people.

Wrong! People online are starved for fresh content that’s unique. They are drawn to people who write with energy and passion. They flock to people who will entertain them and follow those who have the courage to lead them.

Learn how to use powerful and persuasive words to stand out like a pink elephant in a tuxedo and get the rewards you deserve, whether that is friends, fame, power or riches.
