A Squeeze Page is Critical to Your Online Success

A squeeze page or a landing page is a powerful Internet marketing tool. Why? Because it builds your mailing list in whatever online niche you happen to be in. You know what they say, “The money is in the list.”
What is a squeeze page?
It is a single web page whose only purpose is to collect the visitor’s name and email address. Usually this is done by offering a giveaway report, eBook or multi-part course. This is very different from a sales letter or mini-site where the marketer is selling something. On a squeeze page, there is only value exchange, your freebie in exchange for their name and email address.
Why is a squeeze page critical to your online success?
Let’s face a harsh reality right now, most first-time site visitors are not going to buy from you. So you need a way to capture their contact information with explicit permission to send them future emails. In other words, a way to continue to market to them long after their first visit to your site.
If you give away your report or eBook on their very first visit, they’ll probably read it and forget about you after that. You don’t want to lose that visitor forever after having done all the hard work to get them to your site in the first place.
Email or drip marketing allows you to build a strong relationship with your subscribers. Your squeeze page is the first step in your sales funnel that eventually leads to the list of members buying from you or buying your affiliate product because they now trust your recommendations. Don’t treat this lightly if you want to succeed online.
What are the keys to creating a successful squeeze page?
There’s only one measure of success for a squeeze page – it should capture maximum number of leads for your list. There are three keys to a high-converting squeeze page. They are:
1. Create a strong desire
People are not going to give up their email address easily unless your offer is strong enough to convince them. As I’ve said earlier, it must be a value exchange. Value is in the eyes of the visitor, so your giveaway must be something that they desire because they perceive immediate benefits to them. It is all about “what’s in it for them” and not how you can build your list. Don’t giveaway fluff because your subscribers will form their all-important “first impression” about you from what they receive. Give away crap and you’ll get more unsubscribers than subscribers. If you feel that you don’t have the time or skills to create you own content, then outsource it or buy resale or private label rights to a good product in your niche.
2. Demonstrate value
You have to convince your visitors as to “why” they should opt-in to your list. Don’t make the common mistake made by many marketers by placing only an image of your free product with an opt-in form. Highlight the major benefits of your product. Use bulleted text and not long copy. Here’s where you can use your direct response copywrting skills. One good way to convince people of the value is to use one or two testimonials of your current subscribers. Surprise your visitors by convincing them that you are giving them an incredible value for FREE!
3. Deliver on your promise.
Use a reliable email marketing service that can deliver your digital product 24/7 within the shortest period of time after someone fills out your online opt-in form. Don’t cut corners here by trying to do it manually using your email client software. You must use an automated system for delivery and managing your list. Do use a confirmed or double opt-in process to save you a lot of trouble in the future.
